I love living in Los Angeles. I can think of many things to do around here to make my life more exciting. Nevertheless, we all need our time away from our usual surroundings. So, last week my husband and I took a great Northern California vacation. We played tourists for the entire week despite the fact that he is from the Bay area and it wasn't a entirely new experience for him. Needeless to say, he was my personal tour guide. What is Northern California known for you might ask? Food and Wine! One of the best Culinary schools in the nation is located in Napa Valley. Food is truly an art all around. From San Francisco all the way to the Russian River Valley, food and wine are something to brag about.
Our mini vacation started with the city of San Francisco. To be perfectly honest with you, I never really understood all the hype about it. I've been to San Francisco a couple of times before and never caught a vibe of the city like others do, that was until our last visit. What a great experience that was! We took the Bart to the city which definitely reminded me of the European subway system. I was pleasantly surprised with how many people commute to the city taking the train. It is much cheaper than driving since you don't have to pay a fee to cross bridges and dont have to worry about parking in the city which is around 20 dollars a day. Plus, you don't need a car in the city to get around; everything is somewhat walking distance from each other. Taking a subway in San Francisco is nothing like the one in LA, and not in the favor of the latter. Los Angles metro system is the worst I've ever seen and San Francisco is one of the best. So if you do travel to San Fran, don't hesitate to use it. A great experience all around!
