Beware: GMO’s and Toxic Chemicals In Your Baby’s Diapers

You have probably heard the saying “you are what you eat”, well it goes even further “you are what you put on your skin”. As you know, our skin is the largest organ of our body and what I will say next might be a big shock to you: there is more danger in putting chemicals on your skin than actually consuming them! Why? Because our skin can actually breath and thus absorbs the things we put on our skin.

If we just use conventional body care, our skin is absorbing nothing but bad stuff. SO, what happens next? These bad ingredients enter our bloodstream and get carried around our body, penetrating our organs. Our skin is very gentle and sensitive as is, but our babies’ skin is even more so.  Thus, using conventional goods such as chemically laced diapers (such as these)can lead to future health problems due to the fact that the baby’s organs are still developing.  Continue Reading

The Shocking Truth about Vaccines. Do they really work?

Vaccination is a very controversial topic in our society. It is like talking about politics and religion. It is nearly impossible to convince a person of the dangers of vaccines if they are firm believers of their ultimate goodness. Vaccination is a very dear topic to my heart. I’ve spent countless hours researching the pros and cons of vaccination, which led me to write an extensive research paper on the dangers of vaccines while studding at the University. Thankfully, I’ve never had to deal with any side effects from vaccines personally, but several of my closest friends did – either it resulted in horrible shaking episodes or even worse – Autism.

Long-Term Breastfeeding is Best For Babies as Well as Mothers

Unfortunately, many mothers think that it is enough to breastfeed her child the first month or two, then you can move on to formula. I just want to shout to these mothers not to do it. No artificial formula will be able to replace breast milk or imitate its composition or taste, nor can it offer the psycho-emotional security every child experiences while breastfeeding. When a mother puts the baby to her chest, the baby feels completely secure and happy.  Mother and child become one.   Children who are breastfed for a long time are much closer to their mothers when they grown up, not to mention the fact that they get sick less. Even if the baby is not able to properly latch, it is still possible to pump and give it to the baby. No artificial formula can give you these tremendous health benefits.

Long-Term Breastfeeding

Breast milk contains not only all the necessary nutrients for a child, but also a large number of biologically active compounds and protective factors (enzymes, hormones, immunoglobulins and lactoferrin, etc.). The composition of the milk changes with the growth of the baby. It starts with colostrum, a few drops of which is enough to feed a newborn, then comes a transitional milk, and finally Mature milk. The composition of the milk changes even during the day. A big misconception in our modern society is the idea that the baby is in need of breast milk only for the first couple of months. According to the World Health Organization,  a child should be breastfed up to 2 years of age.  Contrary to a common belief, even after six months, a  child requires all the biologically active substances and the balanced nutrients contained in breast milk. A child is also in need of skin to skin bonding with their mother.

Breast Milk Prevents Infections

Breast milk does change its composition, adapting to the needs of the child. A number of immunoglobulins grow and accumulate in the body and protect the child even after weaning from the breast.  Immunoglobulins cover the mucous membrane of the intestine, making it inaccessible to pathogenic bacteria. The fat content of breast milk after a year increases 2-3 times. It contains substances which can not be obtained from food- hormones, immunoglobulins and lipids (fatty acids) are working for the development of the brain, nervous system, and strong immunity.
Additionally, the nutrients in breast milk are absorbed almost completely and without much effort by the child or any damage to his enzyme systems. If You pay attention to the trace elements we can see that the amount of iron, for example, is less in human milk than in artificial mixtures, but it is absorbed completely and there is no need to increase the quantity of it.

I hope this will change your mind if you are contemplating when you should stop breastfeeding.  Don’t follow the advice of our modern day media, after all, billions of dollars are being made by formula companies. The result – a unhealthy nation with allergies and diseases like never before. Remember, your child’s health is in your hands!

Compelling Reasons to Avoid Baby Cereal

We can all agree that when it comes to our kids, we want the very best for them. According to our knowledge, wisdom, and the facts we know, as parents we try to raise our kids well. Since I’ve strayed away from mainstream nutritional wisdom, conventional baby food will not work for me. When it comes to my baby, I dig deep into research. I refuse to be a blind parent being led by deceiving facts or marketing gimmicks.  So first of all, forget what all the big cereal companies are feeding you and your baby!  Why?

Compelling reasons to avoid Baby Cereal

  • Popular rice products, including, rice cereal, contain arsenic, a potent carcinogen that can cause damage to a child’s developing brain. According to a study done by Consumer Reports Magazine, “Worrisome arsenic levels were detected in infant cereals, typically consumed between 4 and 12 months of age.” The really disturbing part about this, is the notion that these baby foods are being labeled as “health foods”.
  • Babies stomachs cannot properly break down grains. In order for grains to be broken down properly, our bodies have to have adequate amounts of the proper enzyme, called amylase; and babies just don’t have enough of these. Until molar teeth are fully developed, it can take up to 28 months for the arbohydrate enzymes (amylase) to fully start working. Thus, feeding rice cereal can cause inflammation due to improper digestion and later can contribute to allergies and the formation of auto-antibodies associated with diabetes.
  • Baby cereals are often fortified with a list of supplemental vitamins and minerals including iron which can lead to serious health problems. The American Academy of Pediatricians makes recommendations that parents buy iron-fortified baby  food, and especially be given to breastfed babies. The mainstream wisdom declares that iron deficiency leads to many health problems thus giving some extra to your baby will not do any harm. However, recent research showed that iron fortified foods promote the growth of intestinal pathogens and alter intestinal and systemic immune function. Additionally, another study on the effects of iron on the crucial skeletal developments in early life shows “iron supplementation in young children without iron deficiency may jeopardize optimal height and weight gains.”

Extensive research has proven the dangers of feeding cereal to your baby, so the choice is yours. Remember, there are much better alternatives for your baby than a box of cereal.
