  2. A hot washcloth to the infected sinus with a hot water bottle over it works WONDERS! I lie on the bed with the infected sinus up, put the hot water bottle on, and in about 20 minutes, all of the snot drains right out. My theory is that the heat draws more blood to the area and osmosis draws water out of the blood into the sinus cavity, thinning the mucus.

    • Jen, I’ve always heard that heat helps draw out an infection. I had horrible sinus problems all my life till I pretty much healed myself in the last few years — the 2% that’s left is post-nasal drip. My mainstay is Sinus Buster nasal spray (I am not affiliated w/them), which makes it so I never have to rinse my sinuses. It hurts like the dickens! for about 15 sec., and then r-e-l-i-e-f. It is — hard to believe — gentle to the tissues and should be used as often as necessary, maybe 10 times in a day if I have something going on (which is almost never nowadays). Next day, I might only need it 5 times, and maybe not for days and weeks after that, or just a preventative dose once in a while.

  3. I like to use a Himalayan Salt Inhaler. Close one nostril and inhale through the other side while exhaling through the mouth. Repeat several times through each nostril several times a day. I also have a used nasal spray container that I fill with warm filtered water, a pinch of sea salt and 1/2 dropper full of Colloidal Silver. I spray the mixture into my nose and inhale the mixture as deeply into my sinus’ as possible. Repeat over the day. Make a new solution every day. It has never ceased to work for me.
